Needed: Awesome Italian in Unionville/Markham area

It's my dd's 16th today and she's only just decided that she wants to go Italian for her Birthday dinner.
We usually go to Fratelli's in Scarborough but for logistical reasons we need somewhere in the Unionville or Markham area today. And! Just because it's always fun to find great, new places to eat!

Suggestions?

(and please, no "No, you can't have parmesan on your seafood pizza because it's not authentic" Terroni's-style pretentiousness!) (LOL)

I don't think there is much option for Italian in these areas if you want good food.

There is Dante's in Thornhill and Terra, which has some pastas/risottos. I think you have to head out to Woodbridge to find good Italian in York Region.

For Italian, Ferrovia has a branch in Markham ( around 14th Ave., I think?! ) Food is OK to good but not 'awesome'! Actually, IMO no Italian restaurants in the GTA produce awesome Italian food.

We go to Il Postino in unionville on highway 7 between Kennedy and Warden.

It's next to Jake's and across from Starbucks. In the summer time, you can dine outside and we enjoy it quite a bit.

I would recommend Blacksmiths Bistro on Unionville Main Street. It's mediterranian/italian and I quite like it. Good food, lovely service. I bit pricey, but I don't complain much since I am simply happy to get a decent meal in this area.

ferrovia at markham and 14th has closed down and now replaced with a afghani kebob place which is pretty tasty.

Dante's only location now is in Woodbridge, damn shame! Nonna's in Markham is good but not great.

Never a fan of Dante's. Mediocre food, excessive price. Way over-rated!

Their pizza's are overrated but their sandwiches imho are second to no one!
