Disappointment with Bar Boulud

A disaster last night. First they said they did not have the reservation , but after 10 minutes I found my dinner partner sitting at the table waiting for me. And yes they had acknowledged the dinner reservation to him. NO APOLOGY to me though. We explained we had 1 hour and 15 minutes to eat before theatre. It took 35 minutes to get our appetizers which were cold salads. We had to ask numerous times for the cheese puffs. And after 65 minutes from when we sat down, dinner arrived. TOO LATE to eat!!! We sent it back and ran off to the theatre. Everyone around us had the same problem and many people left with an empty stomach. AND they let us pay for our appetizers!!! The wait staff and matre d blamed the chief. What is the problem?

  1. What a miserable experience for you! I've never left a DB establishment in anything but a good mood.

    In my opinion, this warrants a written complaint to Daniel Boulud. From all I've seen and read, he's very serious about the quality of his restaurants, his kitchens and the service provided by his staff. I hope you kept your receipt, which will have the time and the waiter's I.D. on it. I wouldn't be at all surprised if you received a personal apology - or, at the very least, an explanation - from DB, along with an invitation to dine on the house.

        Good suggestion. We will write Daniel. I have had the pleasure of meeting of meeting Daniel and I do know he will be appaled.
