Temecula this Thursday/Friday

Its my parents 40th anniversary and we are taking them from DC to LA & Temecula. We are staying at the Inn at Churon Winery....I was curious to see if you had any recommendations for dinner on Thursday (more casual is ideal since we are all flying in to LA and then immediately driving to Temecula).......then lunch on Friday.......and then I was curious to see how the Inn's 5 course dinner for $65 bucks was.....? Has anyone had dinner there???? Is there somewhere else that is better for a more formal (but price sensitive too)????

Let me know if you need any more info.....

  1. my wife and i have recently moved to the area (just north of temecula) and have been exploring. we have been wine tasting in temecula and enjoyed "weins" very much, to the point that we joined their wine club. we are into reds and theirs were very good.

based on the "40th" anniversary, we are probably close to your parent's age, so here is what we have enjoyed.:
    - in downtown temecula - baily's. i believe that it is owned by the same family that owns
"weins". good food, nice atmosphere, downstairs very casual, service just ok.
    - if you are willing to travel a bit (or on your way down the 15) there are a couple of very
    nice places.
    - in lake elsinore: ravioli's. excellent. chef from sicily, very cosmopolitan cuisine.
    - in wildomar: d'canter's. outstanding. chef from new orleans. cajun/french influence.

also, if you like something interesting, there is a great "biker" bar/restaurant on the ortega highway (74) which runs between lake elsinore and san juan capistrano. it is a 5-10 minute drive up from the west side of the lake and is only open for breakfast and lunch. has a spectacular view of the entire elsinore valley, and prides itself on lousy service. in reality the service is not bad, but it is slow, so plan on a leisurely time. they do have a full bar.

enjoy, and please report on your adventures.
