MoRoCo Chocolate lounge

Hi all, this is my first post aside from replying to people, so hope it adds some value to CHers.
Went to Cafe Moroco for high tea about a month ago for high tea. We had prebooked and requested a vegetarian menu. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful, very rich, done in purple and chocolate. The tea selection was well presented, i chose cream of avalon, and was excellent. Mom had the citrus burst. Teas were brought in elegant pots, each one got a different kind, and the china was mixed and matched very well. For the food: we were brought: Cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches, curried egg sandwiches, and a coleslaw kind of sandwich. The first two were great, the last was ok. There were tons of pastries, macarons, 3 types of scones, shortbread cookies, chocolate truffles, mini pots of creme brulee, there was a lot. The scones were served with adequate clotted cream and lemon curd.
The service was fantastic and they did not rush us at all. WOuld definately go back.

well it was a mothers day treat for me, so i didn't pay, but the menu says 45 dollars on the website, and extra for champagne

sounds great! i've been wanting to try the place out for a while now, and i think it sounds perfect to take my best friend as part of her bday celebrations

i'm trying to figure out timetabling. you said they didn't rush you which i really like. if i booked for 2:30, how much time do you think i should allot for? could we stay a bit later, or do you know if there are 2 dif seatings? thanks!

we had a 3:30 reservation, there were only 3 other tables taken at that time. We stayed till 6pm. I think since its a new restaurant, they wont`be in any hurry to ask you to leave. Hope you have a good time. Oh and i forgot to mention, since there were an abundance of pastries, we couldn`t finish them all, and they packed them for us in a very nice case to go.

    2. Service is generally quite good, though some balk at the prices. $3 per truffle compared to $2 at Soma seems a bit steep.

      1. Has anyone been in the evenings? How is the atmosphere on a weekend night - does it get very busy?

I was looking at making a booking there for about 15 people for dessert after we have dinner somewhere else. Would like somewhere we won't be too rushed and can lounge for an hour - an hour and a half while we eat dessert and have some coffee.
