New restaurants on Pape and O'Connor?

There are a few new restaurants that opened on O'Connor, on the northeast corner of Pape.

One is a chinese restaurant, and ther other is a bbq. Their name escapes me.

Anyone know much about them?

The Chinese restaurant (Chopsticks King) is decent but it's nothing beyond your typical Chinese take-away. It's still a welcome addition to the neighborhood for those Pape and O'Connor residents for whom there is a dearth of decent take-out options.

Right beside it, there is a new eastern European deli called Dragan's. I have yet to try it.

its hard to tell what Dragans' actually offers. it says its Deli and BBQ, but I'm not sure what that means (i.e. prepped food versus sit-down dinner?)

I'm anxiously awaiting for someone to open up a quality burger joint on that little strip. I'll "help" pay their rent. :-)

its funny...I'm from Winnipeg and all the good, greasy spoon burger joints are run by Greeks. in Winnipeg, the Greeks make the best burgers and they all make chili sauce for the burgers.

and here we sit, in Greektown, with Lick's being the only burger place.

Brain_of_J, you be the owner, I will lend my recipes and we can open a mini and simple burger and fry resto in the Golden Triangle.

I tried that burger place on Pape and King's Cross and it was kind of ungreat.

Florida Restaurant on Pape makes homemade burgers. I've never tried one, though.

Atom, great, great idea! The daily commute along the Gardiner is killing me. I'd love to be able to walk a few steps to work.. I'll get back to ya! :-)

Yeah, I've tried the home burger at the spot you mentioned. Good but definitely nothing special. The spot that embee mentions below is a bit better but again, nothing too special. Truly, the one place that does wow me (and I've mentioned it a few times on this board) is Rails and Ales on Danforth, east of Pape. The place is a bit of a dive but they serve up a huge 1lb burger that's very tasty. I just wish could afford a house closer to the Danforth!

Sorry, have not tried them, but will be watching this thread. Also noticed from the bus what I think is a new shwarma place on Pape south of O'Connor (not sure of exact location), if anyone has tried that?

It's called Pita something, at Pape just north of Mortimer on the west side. Whenever I pass by, it it's always empty. There were no flyers or promotional info sent to surrounding homes to announce their opening so not sure how many know about it. It's been open for several months now.

Yeah I didn't even know about the new places at Pape/O'Connor. I would walk by that new shwarma place as they were renovating it whenever I went to the gym though. When it was finally time for it to open, I told myself I'd bother to try it on the first day. Wasn't in the mood (plus I never really saw anyone in there) so I just kept walking past it every time afterwards.

heard from a store across the way that the falafel place is so-so, which is a shame (since i love a good falafel)
