1st time in Toronto, entertaining business clients

pasta May 18, 2009 12:45 PM

Greetings from Boston !
My husband will be in Toronto the 1st week of June for a business conference.
He is looking for a few recommendations with good food, not too expensive, and atmospheres that are condusive to conversation. Most nights it will be just a few people
and one dinner will be for 20 people. That dinner , ideally, would have also have an area where they could mingle for drinks prior to sitting down.

Thanks so much for your help.

Price points would also be helpful.

of course....they will be in the convention center area and for their dinner for 20 people, the budget is $1500, inclusive. Casual is fine, key is the ability to hold conversations.
        Thanks again for your insight.

Beer Bistro (which is pretty universally liked by posters on this board) has a private room that would accommodate your group of 20 and would probably be close to the right pricepoint (though if people end up drinking more than one or two drinks, I think you may go overbudget no matter where you end up, unless you pick a really cheap and cheerful ethnic place). Their group menu:

Le Select also has private rooms and a reasonably priced set menu:

Neither of these places is right next to the convention centre, but they're not too far.
