New Chinatown Restaurant: Dun Huang Seafood

Walked by here yesterday and it was a mob scene at 103 Mott Street. Dun Huang (敦煌) Seafood Restaurant has just opened - barely a week old. Could not get in too far to see a menu but they were serving cart dim sum. 212-219-2338.

Went there for lunch today at about 12:00. The place was packed. Maybe it was my choice of ordering, but I found the food to be not as good as it was when it was Oriental Pearl. I also left with a major had to be food related headache. I had shrimp rice rolls, which were ok, a bit thick, the shrimp were a good size. steamed pork bun, too cakey if fell completely apart, and a steamed shrimp/seafood ball that was in a large mushroom, my least liked dish. I'll try agin so I am not completely writing it off.

As much as I liked the previous occupants of 103 Mott Street (Oriental Seafood/Oriental Food/Oriental Pearl over the years and over many name chages) Dun Huang Seafood is better!

I used to like it's last incarnation too. What did you eat? How were the prices? We were eating in Shangai Cafe and I noticed the banners, but didn't realize until we left that Oriental was no longer there and this had taken it's place.

Yes! I had spoken with someone and was told this place opened on May 8th. They are open for delivery, Dim Sum till 4PM, and Cantonese / Seafood dinners at night.

Thanks for the update. This sort of completes the thread from a few weeks ago concerning the closing of Oriental Seafood/Oriental Food/Oriental Pearl.
