New Formosa Cafe?

  • 4

Have any of you ever been to New Formosa Cafe in East L.A. Its been close for a year or two now. I'm just wondering for those who have been there before where in the los angeles-san gabriel valley-area can I find food like that. I know it was cantonese chinese food. I especially am looking for a place that serves egg rolls like those. These egg rolls were huge!. Usually two big egg rolls came in an order and were cut into four pieces. These weren't your typical egg rolls. The skin was thicker and it had a darker color to it. If anyone knows of a good chinese place that serves egg rolls like these can you please let me know?

  1. I think you're looking for what East Coast types like myself call New York style egg rolls. They have them at Ghengis Cohen on Fairfax and Melrose and there has been at least one thread on this board about NY Style egg rolls that you can probably call up on the search.

yeah that's somewhat what im looking for. I've looked at some of those threads that suggest Genghis Cohen, canton kitchen and the like. However, most of those restaurants are too far from my house. See i live in San Bernardino County so im looking for something thats either on the east side of Los Angeles or downtown. I have been suggested Paul's Kitchen. has anyone been there? and if so, how is it?

thanks for the links. I guess I will be going to try out Paul's kitchen since its probably the closest I'm going to find to New Formosa Cafe or Far East. I might drop by Genghis Cohen's to check out the egg rolls too.
