Got Crabs?

I want to put together a crab feast at work in a few weeks. A friend suggested that it would be significantly easier to just buy 2 bushels of cooked and seasoned crabs, rather then live crabs. We are located in Center City Philadelphia, but would be more then happy to drive into NJ or DE to get them, as long as they are good. Any suggestions?

Try Ippolito's on 12th and Dickinson in South Philly. They sell them live in any amount you want (by the dozen or by the bushel) and I'm sure they'd be willing to cook them up for you too.

And I just thought of this...Maybe Chickie's and Pete's will cater for you???

I second Ippolito's... I buy 25-30lbs of dungeness crab legs there 1-2x a year for a crab fest and they have the best prices in the area... never bought whole crabs, but they always seem to have a nice selection.

Such a shame Walts is no longer. While pickin' crab at Walts in my college years (early 70's), the phone would ring 20 times, with the same simple answer "yeah, the crabs are in". click. An institution lost.

Ippolitos. Every year my family comes up for the crabs from Ippolitos. All males, kickin when they hit the pot., perfectly cooked. If you pay for jumbo thats what you get.
