"cool" place for 14th birthday

taking the teen to celebrate her birthday with a couple of friends. we've got reservations at ketchup (i already know the chowhounds' opinion of this place, but they're excited about the celebrity element). i considered 8 oz too, but they don't take reservations and we're going on saturday at 7pm.

oh, and the teen is a vegetarian, so there must be veg options on the menu.

any other suggestions for somewhere in the west l.a. area that's somewhat age appropriate?

Honestly, while I don't love the food at Ketchup, I took my godaughter there for her 13th bday party and she was thrilled. Several celebs and she loved the food.

Gardens of Taxco in W. Hollywood could be good...campy, fun and I think you could have a cocktail. Always a plus when surrounded by teens...

I know I've suggested this on this board before...but the Porch restaurant at House of Blues might be really fun-it's lively, the food is decent, there are veg options (i.e. mac and cheese, pizza, pasta), and depending on the show, you can probably get sat right away.

it's not West LA, but Lucky Devils in Hollywood might be fun for them...or even a Korean BBQ place.

imho, the banchans , by themselves, are not enough to be a birthday meal for the honoree. they certainly would never have sufficed for my daughter nor would they suffice for me.

imho, it would be like having a hamburger party and just serving the birthday girl the bun and condiments. . . . .
