Crabs between DC/Philly?

  • 9

Hi everyone, I'm driving between Philly and DC and am looking for a good place to have crabs along the way. Preferably as close to the highway as possible so we don't have to take a detour. Nothing fancy, just the standard old bay / steamed would be great. Thanks!

  1. The best crabhouses in the Baltimore area are on the east side of town. Do a search on this board for Bills and Costas, and you'll get more in-depth reviews for them and others. None are too far off 95 North of downtown B'more.

    1. Mr. Bill's Terrace Inn in Essex, on Eastern Avenue which is an exit off of 95!

      1. My favorite for crabs is LP Steamers.

LP Steamers is not good plus the place is filthy.

Try Canton Dockside...minutes off 95 in Baltimore. Great big crabs and a nice deck to eat them on.

I 2nd that about LP Steamers, yuck.
The crabs I've had at Canton Dockside have been very hit or miss.

I've eaten at LP Steamers many a time and never had on issue with quality or cleanliness. It is a dive. But opinions may differ.

        2. There is a nice place on Rte 40 (which parallels I-95,)just above Joppatown MD called
Baldwins.it's on the west side of Rte 40. Usually good crabs at a reasonable price and the ambience you are looking for!!

          1. Woody's crab house in North East, MD

never been here but has a good rep. it ma be more noted for ccakes?

per google maps about 3 mi off I95

Woodys is the place. About 5 minutes off 95 on Main Street. Very easy to find. Good beers too. I've only gotten crab cakes there but wouldn't hesitate to go for crabs.
