Too many problems with searching Places
I had the SF Places search bookmarked. When the new search went in, that old link still worked. It didn't display beautifully, but the search worked.
That link no longer works and neither does Places search.
There are is no option for board group.
Not all Places are being displayed. I know I have personally tagged 31 restaurants being in Fisherman's Wharf. Search only turns up 19 and half of those are not in the Bay Area.
Until the search is fixed, could you please restore the option to use the old search. It co-existed peacefully with the new search for weeks.

Yes, that would be a big help. I seem to recall there used to be one under advanced options; I don't see removing it as an improvement.
Another incomplete result: Just tried "Long Island City" in the search field at http://www.chow.com/places/regions - it finds just 9. That's waaay low, though I couldn't tell you by how much.
If we want to encourage people to use places, then fixing search has to be a top priority. Because search is so porous, well-meaning users continue to inadvertently enter duplicate records. Other users then have to flag them, and the flagged records show up permanently in threads where they're linked. Eventually that's bound to deter users who've entered multiple dupes from even bothering - and that undermines the whole places function.

I know there is a lot on the plate to fix, but so if fixing that search can't be a high priority ... by which I mean not fixed in a few days, not weeks or months ... then please, please restore the workaround ... please .. !!!
What makes things like this especially hard to deal with is seeing new features introduced like the video change a few days ago, without old bugs being addressed.

I found an unintuitive workaround for searching places by board group
1. Enter search critera and use advance search to search 'boards' rather than places. Enter board group.
2. When the search results are returned, click on 'restaurants; on the top of the page.
I haven't tried this a lot, but so far it seems to be narrowing things down so that not every restaurant in the world shows up when searching for something like outdoor seating and you only want the SF Bay Area.

I hate to harp on this, but why can't the redirection to the new search be removed? Yet another question I can't answer though the info is in there in the Places database.

right now I'm unable to link to Places when posting. Using the search box on the Places hub (e.g., Los Angeles) goes to error messages repeatedly with no resolution.
