birthday dinner Sunday night for ChowPup WLA or Santa Monica

Chowpup's birthday on Sunday needs a special celebration; want to stay in West LA or Santa Monica. Suggestions please and has anyone been to Annisette recently?

My daughter just turned 12 and her birthday choice was Wilshire. My other daughter is 8 and she likes K-Zo in Culver City (not Sushi Zo). They both like Pann's also.

i asked the question of the OP, ZoeZ. i presume that you are not the spouse of ZoeZ??? trying to get a handle on what age we're talking about here. . . .

nevertheless, it's nice to know the age and preferences of your daughters.

Right and I didn't respond to your post -- I was also responding to the OP and just providing an age example for comparison purposes.

It's been a while since I have visited Chinois on Main in Santa Monica, but when we lived in SM my kids loved it for special occassions (so did my husband and I.) I even took a former first lady to Chinois for dinner and while she raved about the food, I think she was even more impressed when Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hanks and Mr. and Mrs. Steven Spielberg were seated at the next table. I hope its still as good, because I really loved the food. There is also the beach side resto at the hotel Shutters but it was a little stuffy.

I'm not really sure what you are looking for, but I wouldn't bring a child to Josie or Jiraffe, especially not Josie, although I enjoy them both among adults. Anisette is more casual and could work, but it doesn't really scream kid's birthday either.

It all depends on the age and behavior of the child. I know some 7 or 8 year olds who would love these restaurants and would fit in perfectly. On the other hand, there are some who would be out of place at McDonalds!

Although Anisette is fine for a coffee and croissant for breakfast, or some shellfish or a croque for lunch, I do not think it is really appropriate for a special celebration birthday dinner. The food is ok, but the seating is very uncomfortable and the service variable.

If you are up to spending a few bucks, Josie in Santa Monica is an excellent restaurant, and it is open on Sundays. Also excellent in Santa Monica, and I think open on Sundays are JiRaffe, and La Botte.
