Good eats in Greenport and Port Jefferson

I hope I am on the correct board. We are taking ferry from Orient Point in June to visit the wineries on Long Island. We will be staying in Greenport. What are some good places you have eaten at? Thanks in advance.

  1. In Port Jefferson - The Fifth Season.

    1. In Greenport, I liked VINe for their small plates and great selection of wines. Also like Fifth Season but looks like they moved to Port Jefferson.

Avoid at all costs Scrimshaw's in Greenport - the WORST dining experience of my life. DH and our 2 friends who were with us agreed. Service was non-existent, most of the food came out cold, scallops came out RAW, steaks were undercooked and sent back, only to come out overcooked/burnt. Absolute dining horror! We cancelled everything and left... we were more willing to starve than eat that slop.. ended up eating big bowls of ice cream instead. :)

      1. I have not yet had the pleasure of dining there, but heard rave reviews from friends about the Frisky Oyster in Greenport.

I had a couple of memorable and great meals at Frisky Oyster.

        2. Vine has excellent food, but they don't support the local wine scene much (which is a shame). Vine is very casual. If you want some real fine dining, don't miss The North Fork Table. Jedediah Hawkins is also very good. There is a decent new Italian place calle A Mano, too.
Not sure if you have your wine itinerary already set, but make sure you get to Shinn, Waters Crest, and Roanoke. They are a bit harder to find, but well worth the trip.

          1. So how was the trip? Where did you go and what were your impressions?
