Sunday brunch in Spokane

Breakfast or brunch on Sunday in Spokane. One option is Old European Breakfast House... any others?

    Old European has gone down-hill drastically, they are over-priced Denny's food with a faux european slant.

    Davenport is nice for brunch, but for a true European style breakfast try Sante's, they cure their own meats and make their own sausages.

    Very good.

        Breakfast at Sante was a delight! We loved our food and the cheerful service; coffee and water were refilled often without prompting... and, if you browse and shop at Auntie's books next door, there's 10% off your tab!

        Kielbasa Blanquette with onion, mushrooms, bacon, grilled baguette and Egg

        The excellent coffee is fair trade from 4 Seasons and is a special house blend for Sante.

        I was really disappointed with brunch at Sante. My omelet was incredibly bland and the service was atrocious (slow, food mixed up, bills mixed up, no refills). I was with a group with four others and everyone was feeling much the same about it. I had to go to Rockwood Bakery for a croissant afterward in order to feel sated.

          Wow, that's sad to here; this is our new hangout and the place we take out of towners to on a very consistent basis. They have been nothing but fantastic. The overall European dining concept and fresh home-made charcuterie items are touches you just don't find in many American restaurants.

          On Taste Everything Once (TEO) they have received 24 out of 24 glowing reviews.

          That's a monumental first for any restaurant on TEO, the regular posters there are pretty hard critics.

          Although I have nothing to do with their operation, I will apologize for them on behalf of a restaurant professional. I hope it was a one-time incident and maybe you might try them again.

          Spokane is sorely lacking in high-quality restaurants and high quality dining experiences that Sante's brings a much needed presence to this city. (That is if they do the food and service right.

          )

          Cheers

            I read TEO on a regular basis, though it's gone much downhill since the original writer (Jennifer) detached herself from the site. The glowing reviews of Sante, I've noticed, often list similar issues that I've had, but swiftly forgive the flaws because otherwise it was good. Which is fine, but indicates that some of these issues are recurring.

            I'm also in the business, and I could forgive any one of these things and try it again, but the piling up of everything swiftly became ridiculous, especially the service. While I agree that more high quality restaurants are needed, I'm not willing to ignore bland, tepid food and ignorant and incompetent service simply because I like what the restaurant is trying to do.
