Nice, slightly upscale restaurant in DC

We looking for a nice, slightly upscale (like to keep dinner under $200 with maybe 2 cocktails total) for Sunday night in DC. We will have our baby and 6 year old with us, but they are used to eating in nice restaurants, so it's doesn't have to be kid friendly, but i do need a high chair. No chains, please. Thanks!

  1. Are you in downtown, or outer areas? If it is downtown, I think you would enjoy Old Ebbitt Grill; good food, will fit your price range, and is "active" enough that your kids will be distracted. Your 6 year old will love all the old stuff on the walls.

    1. You would have to call about the high chair, but places I've found kid-friendly and in your price range (also with great food) would be Central, Brasserie Beck and maybe Cashion's Eat Place (I've personally never seen kids there but it is a neighborhood spot, so they might be open to children).

      1. i really like blue duck tavern. it's in a hyatt hotel and i have read several reviews about people bringing their kids and enjoying it without a problem. it's a beautiful restaurant and they serve the dishes kind of family style. they are hefty portions and you get a lot for the money.

        recommended dishes:
bdt fries - thick fries cooked in duck fat. so good!
crab mac and cheese - best mac and cheese i've ever had, really decadent.
roasted bone marrow - largest portion of bone marrow i've seen. great for sharing.
roasted fish - changes daily, i think. simply prepared with lemon and thyme, but it tastes great every time.
braised short rib - super tender and they give you a super large rib here.

ALSO, they have great and bountiful desserts. they have an ice cream selection that changes frequently and you get like 4-5 scoops. the fruit ice creams/sorbets are usually my favorite.
