Private room for my 12 person wedding?

We ditched the giant 100 person wedding in favor of getting hitched in the park with just our families, now we just need to find someplace to eat after! This is where you all amazing people come in.

We're in need of a restaurant in any neighborhood in Manhattan plus Astoria, pref Italian, ideally with a private room for 12 people, and magically still affordable ($20-25 entrees). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  1. It might be too small of a group for them, but you could ask Aroma about reserving the downstairs area. Really good Italian in your price range. I'm just concerned that their party room may be a little too large for a party of 12 to make economic sense for them.

Thanks! I did see on their website they recently opened a second private room for 12....

        Congrats on your forthcoming marriage!

What day of the week will this be?

And, btw, for Astoria recs, you should post on the Outer Boroughs board.

If you would be o.k. with excellent traditional Italian-American fare, I would recommend Campanile, on 29th St., b/t Park Av. S. & Madison. The public dining room has a comfortable, old-fashioned feel. There is a private room, but since I've never seen it, I can't say how many it accommodate. Actually, the public dining room is configured in such a way that if the private room won't work, you and your party could be seated in a separate section. The staff couldn't be more warm and attentive, and the owner, Slavko, is very hands-on. If you decide to have your wedding dinner there, I'm sure he will work with you to make it a festive and memorable occasion.

P.S. The reason I asked for the day is that Campanile is not open on Saturday and Sunday.

    2. Not Italian, but Freeman's has a very nice private room that looks almost like a wine cellar. It would fit 12 and the entrees are in that range.

It is - I was just there this week and the spinach & artichoke dip is suprisingly great with huge chunks of artichoke. I had the spanish mackerel special but everything else looked good, as well.

Congratulations! Inoteca on the Lower East Side has a private room downstairs. L'Artusi in the West Village has a private room.
Osso Bucco on University Place also has a private area.

        1. Thanks for all your suggestions! I should note my 12 person wedding has grown to 17-20 people. Damn these large Irish Catholic families.

          1. Has anyone had a party at Ducale? We're checking that out tonight. Looks to be just about right.

            1. And we're going with Ducale. Amazing food, no room fee, and right near the park! Perfect.
