Cafe Massilia?

Has anyone dined at this restaurant in Monrovia? Friends of mine seem to really like it and I wondered if this is worth the drive from Sherman Oaks.

I had a good experience at Cafe Massilia. I went there months ago though around when they first opened. I'm not sure if it's worth it to drive from Sherman Oaks just to eat there, but I would recommend checking it out if you're in the area.

I agree with that. It's a very nice restaurant, and the owners (who are also the servers) are friendly and charming, but it's not a gourmet destination. I would put it on a par with Le Petit Cafe in Santa Monica - a reasonably priced, friendly place with good food and service. I wouldn't travel 30 miles to eat there, but if you're in the vicinity it'd be a shame not to consider it. I love their snails; I think an order of those and a salad would be an amazing lunch, a proposition I intend to follow up on some day.

I concur with the others. Very reasonably priced French food, but not high cuisine. The one dish we loved was the chicken ravioli in a walnut creme sauce. That sauce was outstanding. The other food was fine for what it was, but nothing memorable. I will be going back, but we live in the SGV...

Just as an aside, you can get a seriously good steak-frites there. It's not on the menu as such, but they have a lovely little steak with which you can get very nice un-greasy, crisp matchstick fries.
