Are Stone Crabs Only Served Seasonally?

I recently saw something (sorry cannot recall the source) indicating that stone crab fishing season ends in May or June . . . does anyone know if this is correct? If so, are they off limits at Miami-area restaurants until the season reopens?

Season is Oct. 15 - May 15. If you see them any other time (and you usually don't), it obviously means they were frozen. Actually much of what you get at the very beginning and end of season is frozen too.
