Shochu bar hatchan?
What is going on with this place? It was a Little Izakaya near Grand Central that specialized in shochu, next to the East Yakitori place. They had a fire a couple months back and closed up. Are they going to reopen the bar or change it into something else?
The web site (linked below) says it's moved to another of the East restaurants, at 3rd Ave. and 27th. Looks as if it's open only Monday through Friday.

Hatchan has been reopened for a few weeks back at its orignal spot on 44th Street. The shochu list has been slightly modified and it's just slightly larger than before and a couple of the most expensive selections appear to have been removed.
There is now a plum shochu available. Unfortunately they didn't add the akanone carrot shochu to the menu that was occasionally available before.
They weren't doing too well last week, but the night I was there, the bar filled up by the time I left. I hope business picks up for them, not many places that have about 40 different shochu selections available.
