Best Vineyard Restaurants in Mass, Ct or RI?
Hi There! Thinking of trying the Sharpe Hill Vineyard restaurant in Pomfret, Ct and got to wondering if there were other places like this in New England that you would recommend?
Would love to do a winery tour/tasting and then enjoy a nice meal.
Any suggestions very welcome!!
Sean, I want to try that one, too, based on a recommendation on this board (I think it was you!). I've been to the winery about three years ago--was the restaurant there then and I missed it?
carpevacationum (nice philosophy!):
Both Sharpe Hill Vineyard in Pomfret, CT and Heritage Trail Vineyard in Lisbon, CT are in my top 5 list of CT restaurants (vineyard or not).
Please keep in mind you need to make a reservation in advance at Sharpe Hill and hold it by credit card. Now that it's getting nicer, it will be time to sit outside on the lovely patio under umbrellas for lunch. Lunch menu is same as dinner (not a light meal of sandwiches), so save your appetites!
I love Heritage Trail, but it's a different vibe entirely from Sharpe Hill. Heritage Trail is much more casual and has lighter fare options as well as a full dinner menu. Reservations are suggested, but not required (I'd make one just to be on the safe side). I've reviewed Heritage Trail a few times on these boards along with several others. If you haven't already read the write-ups, here they are:
Want my honest answer? Please make a trip to both places. You won't be sorry...and it's "passport" season, so you can pick up your CT wine trail passport and have a head start on gathering stamps from wineries across the state.
