After reading a post yesterday about them, I went to In N Out tonight and requested the off-menu animal style fries. They are fries topped with grilled onions, sauce, and cheese. FANTASTIC! If you get them eat the immediately, as the gooeyness is the best part!

I, too, am anxious to try them after reading the thread over last few days, and will hopefully do so this weekend. Glad the report is raving!

Still cannot get the concept of the cheese thing with Fries. Onions and sauce I relate to but not cheese, especially the probably gloppy American nonsense that is passed off as cheese.

C'mon....Try it and then let us know! I also thought chicken and waffles sounded bleh, but I'm now a believer. So now I'm trying the fries...

Oh but come on... Fries with gooey cheese is a pretty good guilty pleasure... you mean to tell me, you really don't like good chili cheese fries with onions? Totally a high school flashback for me from a little place called "Piggies" in Hawthorne... GO COUGARS!!!

Cheese fries are pretty much standard fare in the upper Midwest states. But the thing is chili fries are non-existant in the midwest.

After I read about this on these boards here a few months ago I ordered Animal Fries too! I was SO disappointed though becuase when they came out the fries were cold so the cheese didn't melt. It was awful! Our burgers were cold and burnt too! It's the ONLY time I've ever had a bad burger at In N Out so I forgive them and will try it again some other time. btw, it was at about 10pm on a Thursday night at the Sherman Oaks location. I think it was just a bunch of kids fooling around in the back, not paying attention to the food.
