I live in NYC and will be visiting Israel for the first time. I know there are many wonderful foods to discover in Israel, but i am obsessed with finding one thing: the best baklava! I'm completely obsessed with baklava even though i'm hispanic and have no obvious reasons for loving baklava...but i do. In any case, i'm visiting Israel with my inlaws and the one thing i want is for some locals to suggest places to enjoy amazing baklava. I'll be in jerusalem and tel aviv, so i would love suggestions in either city. Thanks!!

Not sure if you've come and gone already - but as someone who's lived here now for a while - I'm having a seriously embarrassing moment of thinking of scads of places with better baklava in Ohio than in Israel. Sorry.....

Go to Laziza in Astoria, Queens on Steinway Street. I can't recall having baklava any better in Israel than at Laziza in NY. :)

Excellent baklava can be found at Al Mukhtar in Nazareth - particularly the miniature version for weddings, with pistachio or cashew. And while there, do not pass up on the Knaffe - a much less well-known relative of baklava, based on sheep's cheese and cruncy filo-type noodles that is delightful.
