I'll be in Lancaster this coming Saturday night with 11 friends. I need a good recommendation for a place for dinner.

we'll be at the Steaamboat Inn in Lancaster. Looking for a nice restaurant, but not real, real expensive. Something in the $20. entree department.

And will you be in the city of Lancaster or in another part of the county?

This place is a little small, and tends to get crowded on a Saturday night, but you might be able to make a reservation. Anyways, this place has good food and is only a mile or so away from the Steamboat. Its called Dave and Steve's fireside Tavern:

You are out in tourist outlet country, where you'll primarily find chains. Two that aren't, and are typically well rated are both Asian: Olive & Jasmine Asian Bistro and Lemon Grass Thai. I'll vouch for Olive and Jasmine, but haven't been to Lemon Grass for many years. The best restaurant at that end of the county is Restaurant Mazzi - in Leola, but not far away. I'm not sure it will fit your price range. Bri328 listed the best Lancaster City has to offer, but they are more like $25-30 range. Great fun places for a large group of girls. There is also an Iron Hill Brewery right down town which would fit your price better, has good food and is also fun. Not right downtown, but one of my faves with a large group is Culturas Tapas - you have to go to the website for El Serrano (it is upstairs of that restaurant).

These are three of my favorites in the city. The Belvedere Inn has a piano/jazz upstairs in the lounge.

Putting the websites up is really helpful. At first I was tempted by Mazzi, but there is a risk with that ambitious a menu. If done right, it will be stellar, but... The Belvedere Inn is also right in Lancaster where we are staying, and the menu looks solid. Any particular recommendations for things to choose? We have adventurous tastes, and tend to go for small plates.

I REALLY like the Belvedere! Usually, I try whatever they have as a special - it will be great! Just plan ahead! Even for a party of two, it is impossible to get a reservation the day of your meal.

I also love John J Jeffries. The chefs focus on local, sustainable foods - great in Farm Country! Terrific service. A little more pricey than Belvedere once you add in your drinks. It will be easier to get a reservation here!

Not as big a fan of Fenz. Really neat ambience - fun (can be loud), but the food is just OK.

Have fun! Please don't forget to visit the city, especially if you will be in Lancaster on Saturday morning. Central Market and downtown Lancaster have really become a nice place to enjoy!
