Great weekend on the North Fork

My husband and I had a lovely weekend in the North Fork - great wines and good eats! Coming from NYC, it was so nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city!

We left Friday evening and grabbed dinner at the Premier Diner in Commack. It was good diner food, packed inside and hit the spot since we were both starving.

On Saturday, we stopped by Junda's Bakery (after going to Tanger). We sampled some of the baked goods (raspberry cheese babka muffin and a cheese puff) - this will need to be a regular stop for us each time we go out to the North Fork! We had lunch at Love Lane Kitchen (fish tacos and fish/chips) - great home-cooked food in a nice atmosphere. We went to the Bedell and Corey Creek Wineries (we've consistently gone there for the past few years). We stayed in Greenport but had dinner in the AMAZING North Fork Table and Inn. To say that the food there is delicious, is an understatement. We have been to some of the "finer" restaurants in NYC and this ranks up equally among them. Also, while it's a bit pricey, I felt as though for the quality, the service and ambience, it was worth it. My husband at the LI duck and I had the paella. For dessert, he had the ice-cream sandwich and I had the carrot cake. I'm looking forward to a return trip sometime in the Fall!

On Sunday, we stopped by the Briermere farms for a pie on the way home. I know that place gets mixed reviews on the board but their pies are awesome!

  1. Sounds like a great weekend, I have to get back to North Fork Table soon!

    1. Thanks for the review. We have reservations there in a couple of weeks. Went last year & loved it, so I'm glad to hear it's still terrific.

      1. Last year I ate at the Greek place on Sound Avenue (I think that's the road). It was very good.

        1. I love their pies too! I also love The Old Mill Inn in Mattituck, off Sound Ave. It's right on the water, very romantic and you cant beat their afternoon oyster specials..$1 an oyster.

So what's the deal with the dollar oysters? Don't see it on their website.

Perhaps it is a special to "reward" existing customers. That is the case in a place I know in Maine. It is a treat for steady customers and at a low or below cost price it says thank you for your patronage.

          2. So glad you had a nice experience here on our North Fork. I live out here and I wanted to suggest to you and those that have already been or plan on going, that two great apps there are the fluke crudo and the salmon on blini. you will be in heaven after tasting the tapioca for dessert.

Also, as for the Briermere pie, in August they have this amazing fresh peach cream pie with blueberries. Although it's close to thirty dollars, it is something your mouth will not want to miss!
