Tops in Pasadena servers up huge portions of chili cheese fries, though I prefer them without the cheese. Two locations, corner of Allen and Walnut and on Colorado in the extreme east side of town.

Tommy's may not be the best, but they are unique! Just wish I could get the taters extra crispy each and every time.

As a former OC'er, my fave version was at Anita's Broiler in Fountain Valley. They'd knew to do my fries really well done...good meaty chili, no beans, decent little kick. Lots of cheese, fresh chopped onions...and the portion is pretty good sized.

Mmmmm...it's breakfast time, but I'm thinking an order right now would go down good!

high-life burgers in south pasadena has great chili cheese fries. 2 types of cheese, and good no bean chili that doesn't overwhelm the fries. sometimes i go and order just the large chili cheese fries, and still can't finish it.

i don't know - i always thought their ranch dressing tasted watered down.
i usually ask for their salsa, and dip the chili cheese fries in it, alternating with ketchup. sloppy but good!

While not typical chili cheese fries like Johnny Rockets or Tommy's, consider the Soul Fries with chile at Chili My Soul in Encino? The fries come with your choice of chili (a selection of 10 flavors daily) and three toppings. If you want a lot of cheese, you can make all three toppings cheese, choosing from cheddar, jack and parmesan. The Soul Fries are spirals with a light cayenne spice. They're very tasty, but I order them "well done," since I don't like my fries on the soggy side.
