GYRO Hut rt 37 Toms River?
Stopped in for lunch yesterday...They have Beef, Lamb, Chicken Gyros, Shishkabobs, Greek salads also.....everything was very fresh and the Beef Gyro was nicely seasoned with Lettuce, Tomato & drizzled with homemade tzatziki (yogurt, garlic, cucumber) sauce on a soft grilled Pita.......for desert I had a really delicious piece of Greek Baklava also...all under $10.00 for lunch.

Gyro Hut is now Gyros and More, under new management. While I've never tried the old Gyro Hut, I found Gyros and More to be quite good, especially the lamb gyros. Nothing fancy here, but you get large portions that are worth the price. A nice alternative, so give it another shot. Better than Athens Grill, in my opinion.

re: Tapas52
We stopped in for the lamb gyros the weekend of Hurricane Irene, Labor Day? Anyway, they were pretty good. Not as good as Harry's Corner on the Wildwood boardwalk, but still good. Nice owner there, talked to him a bit about the Greek Festival. Anyway, I agree with Tapas, it is a nice alternative to fastfood and it was made fresh right in front of me.

Color me unimpressed with the Gyro Hut. Hoping for something a little different, I decided to follow in Tapas' footsteps and try it this afternoon for lunch. As many of you know, I eschew bread and decided therefore to try the lamb gyro salad along with a side order of dolmades. A few minutes after ordering I was presented with what appeared to be a pre-made salad consisting solely of lettuce and a few slices of tomato topped with a decent portion of shaved lamb gyro meat and dressed with oil and vinegar. Aside from the salad being pre-made, I was disappointed to find that there were no onions or feta cheese. The former was remedied by a request to the solitary worker behind the counter. Although the lettuce was fresh, I found the gyro meat to be dry and not very satisfying. The salad came with a piece of grilled pita sliced in quarters. The pita was dry and could’ve benefited from a brush of olive oil (I decided to try a bite). Also, the grilling detracted from the bread as it only added a layer of accumulated carbon from the grill. The dolmades while decent were also disappointing. I had hoped to add them to my salad, instead they were served warm straight out of the microwave drenched with tzatziki sauce. Locally, I’ve enjoyed much better Greek style salads at Athens Grill, Crystal Diner and even Tiffany’s. Sadly, I doubt I will ever return to the Gyro Hut. Good Luck.

Sorry you didn't enjoy...I saw the salads there also & passed ......for under eight bucks they have a decent Beef Gyro that was just as good as Athens grill IMO or any diner in the area Ive tried for a cheap lunch I usually pay more then that just for a Martini......Toms River is not the mecca for Greek food at all its just an alternative to most fast food burger joints.....& somthing I cant make at home.
