Looking for Haribo GERMAN Gummibärchen in L.A. - about to lose hope..

Hi gang,

One of my family members is a Gummibärchen connoisseur - She's quite picky when it comes to her Gummi Bears.

Having said that, Haribo makes excellent Gummi Bears. They are made in countries like Spain, Hungary, and the USA but invariably (in her opinion), the ones made in Germany are still the tastiest.

Any 'Hounds out there know where we can procure a supply of German Gummibärchen in Los Angeles, aside from making the trip to Deutschland?

As always, "Danke schön!" in advance!

I just bought some, made in Germany, at Mattern in Orange as I was ordering my Christmas ham (and buying some cervelat).

... And when you look carefully at the fine print on the packaging, it specifically says "Made in Germany"?

Not Spain, not Hungary, but GERMANY?! If so, I will check it out.

You might call Shoops in west hollywood. I don't know, but they had german imports and candies.

Did you try Gelsons market? They used to carry the ones from Germany but I have no idea if they still do.

Cost Plus World Market & Gelson both carry Haribo made in Hungary, not Germany.

Alpine Village? They have a large imported candy selection.

I've seen them, along with lots of other wonderful German things like quark and Cervaletenwurst, at Alpine Village Market

They have cervelat?? I'll have to check it out. Cervelat is a Swiss thing, incidentally -- but it doesn't matter at all, if it's any good I want to try it and try and recapture a lost memory!!

Been there, done that. Their Gummi Bears are Haribo , but made in Hungary (close, but no cigar...)

Alas, the search must continue outside Alpine Village...

I was going to suggest Bay Cities Deli in Santa Monica, but I don't know if they are made in Germany. Haribo gummies.

Aye, there's the rub... Must be from Germany.

The ones in Germany are probably made in Hungary (if not Mexico) ;-D>

Heheh... That may be true for a "German" product such as a Mercedes.

Rest assured that German Gummibärchen are still 100% made in Deutschland. Why? Because few things are as dear to the German heart as their Gummibärchen. Now if I can only find some... We're totally out of our last stash (we purchased about 35 Euros' worth at the Frankfurt airport on a recent stop).

At Schreiner's German Deli, corner of Verdugo Rd. and Ocean View Blvd. in Glendale (near Montrose). Best German deli in LA and they have Deutsche Gummibärchen. Die sind sehr geschmack! Stop by Berolina Swedish Bakery next door, too.

You'll find them here. Plus the best selection of imported German cold cuts this side of Bavaria.
