Where are great spots for pre-dinner drinks?

We are looking for great spots to have pre-dinner drinks. Super classy or dive bar - we're just looking for great drinks and a great vibe.

We'll be there on a Saturday, Sunday, and Monday night.

Tonique on North Rampart- delicious and carefully/thoughtfully made to order drinks- yummy! Newish bar so it's not too overcrowded- you can actually enjoy the ppl you go with and the bartenders are really nice

bars at Restaurant Iris, Restaurant August, Mr. B's, Dickie Brennan's, Bourbon House, Arnaud's (French 75), Antoine's (Hermes), MiLa, Rib Room won't disappoint.
otherwise, Lafitte's Blacksmith, Napoleon House (check their hours, they close early), Claire's Bar, Absinthe House, Harry's will get you going.
and if you want after dinner frozen brandy alexanders for dessert, head to Clancy's.

Wow, that's the first time I have ever seen Snake and Jakes recommended for something other than drinks at 3am when you want to be in a very dark place with the chance to see some random nudity. lol

Love that place! I was thinking dives with atmosphere.........But you are correct. I don't think I have ever been there prior to 3 a.m.
