So where can you get decent onion rings. I sorta remember having some at the Hat in Monterey Park some time ago. I haven't eaten there in ages. I use to make them myself but I got tired of cleaning batter off the stove, floor, counter, hands, etc.

The Yard House has a good ring. Comes stacked on a pole like a child's ring toss game, and strewn with garlic / onion fairy dust.

I also like the ones at Wahoo's Fish Tacos, although their batter is sweetened quite a lot. If you don't mind a really sweet ring, you might like theirs.

I think the first thing you have to do is define what a good or great onion ring is. I hate onion rings that you take the first bite and the whole onion pulls out leaving you holding the balance of the crust in your hand. Is there anyone out there that still remembers a BBQ place on La Cienega near Washington called Pete and Percy's? Now they had a great onion ring. You could bite clean through and not pull out the onion. Anyone know a place like that?

At the risk of redundancy...Fatburger's rings meet your requirements. I'm personally recommending only the Fatburger at the corner of Beverly Glen and Ventura in Sherman Oaks since that's the only branch I frequent.

Bob's Big Boy USED to have great, real onion rings but that was many years ago. Now they suck. But I still love the Big Boy burger and so we brave the wait in Toluca Lake, and I lament that I can't order the rings there anymore and that the shakes no longer come in those silver goblets. Ah, the olden days.
