Best Butcher Shops

Could someone comment on the best butcher shops in Manhattan and outer boroughs. I'm interested in full service counters, ethnic & house-made charcuterie.

I usually get my meat from Esposito's on 38th and 9th. They make their own sausage, which is probably what they are most known for. No charcuterie, though, just meat.

I second Esposito's. The owner, Bobby, is the friendliest guy you will ever meet. Great product at great prices. old school. they do have some deli items including prosciutto and salamis.

I've been using Holland Court more and more on Lexington and 93rd St. Doesn't look like much from outside, but the meat is v. good and they can get anything for you. I also like Ottomanelli on Bleecker, and Florence Meat Market on Jones Street. Schatzies - he's moving to the UWS from Madison Avenue - is another butcher I use.

Lastly, I would say that Lobel is probably the best in Manhattan, but at quite a price.

For the other boroughs, you'll want to post on the Outer Boroughs board.

There have been threads on this subject before, and most recently on "The Best" board.
My recommendation is Pino's on Sullivan Street and Florence on Jones Street.
