Best Banana Pudding in the Triangle?
My sister-in-law is coming to the Triangle to visit in a week. When she was here almost 15 years ago she adored the banana pudding at Mama Dip's and raved that it was the best dessert she ever had. I would love to recreate that experience for her. I know all about the pans that MD receives on this board, but does anyone know if their banana pudding might still be up to snuff? Or where else might she get a stellar banana pudding in the triangle area? I'm relying on you hounds for good tips.

Our BP hunt was alas a failure. We ended up at The Pit and it was a disappointment -- at least as far as the 'nana pudding. Marshmellow fluff instead of meringue and it was served cool. Also went to The Mint for Restaurant Week dinner since their menu listed banana bread pudding as a choice but when we got there they had changed the RW menu. The deconstructed sundae was miniscule & pathetic (though the appetizers and entree were fine).
My SIL didn't get her banana pudding she craved. Guess I will try Mama Dip's after all; -- just for the BP to scout it out for her next trip. And, yes, I will try to make one for her as well.

It's so easy to make, why don't you have a go at it yourself and really impress your SIL?

I've already mentioned being partial to the banana pudding (Thursdays and Fridays) at Pam's Farmhouse in Raleigh, but it has a very high banana to creamy ratio. It all depends on what rendition you like.
The banana pudding at Crooks Corner in Chapel Hill looks righteous: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/147/43...

They have turkey and chicken choices. Check out the menu.
I had lunch there for my birthday. I had mini-PBLTs, chopped barbecue (with both sauces), slaw, and sweet potato fries. All was delicious - I didn't leave more than a crumb or two. And each tray of food that passed our table looked just as good. No complaints about service. I'll go back and leave room for banana pudding next time. It looks great!
