I Need Rhubarb--PHX

modthyrth May 7, 2009 02:45 PM

I need some rhubarb. Need it. NEED. I'm 38+ weeks pregnant and am not to be trifled with.

I've checked my local Albertsons, Frys, Fresh and Easy, and Trader Joe's. Has anyone seen it locally, preferably fresh in the produce section? I can get to a Sprouts, AJ's, and Whole Foods pretty easily (thought they're not on my regular paths), but I'd rather start with a confirmed sighting, if possible.

Superstition Ranch Market in Mesa usually has it, although I haven't been there in awhile so I don't know if they have it at this very moment. You could call and ask though.

Superstition ranch market was the winner! Beautiful looking rhubarb for $1.89/pound (as opposed to the $5.99/lb I found at Whole Foods and AJ's).

Thanks, all! Now to determine if I have the patience for pie, or if it's going to be rhubarb shortcake on tonight's menu. ;-)

If you also got strawberries at the market...i think it's law that you make pie. :)

Glad you found it! I'd share my grandmother's rhubarb cobbler with you if I had it. That was one of my favorite things when I was growing up. Good luck with your soon-to-be new arrival!

We saw some at one of the vendors at the Old Town Farmer's Market on Saturday morning.

Most recent sighting probably in the last month was either Sprouts at 28th St / Indian School or Safeway at 48th St / Indian School - can't remember which one.
