Organic plantains?

Hi Hounds,

I just baked my first plantain and must have more!

The problem is I know bananas are sprayed with really bad pesticides and I'm concerned that
plantains are also. Berkeley Bowl and Whole Foods have organic bananas but not plantains.
$1.69 a pound at both places. Please point me toward the organic plantains (pref. in the East Bay) or failing that really cheap regular ones and I will satisfy my new found craving VERY occasionally.

Thanks

I thought organic mattered less for things like onions and bananas that you peel completely before eating?

Thanks for the tip, Ruth. I'll check it out.

Steve: Different sources say different things on this issue.
Considering that I taste a bitterness in most non-organic bananas that is not present in the organic ones, I'd rather play it safe.

That's correct, more or less, but it's also better for the workers/environment.

I would call Alameda Natural Grocery and ask them.
