Need Good Fish Dinner Place Not to Distant from ACC.
The best I can think of is Starfish at 100 Adelaide Street East, which is about a mile away. As long as you are up for a walk (or a quick cab) that would be a great choice.
There is also the new Rodney's by Bay at Bay and Temperance which could also work but I haven't been there and it is brand new (although run by seafood vets). Not sure about their hours though. It would be closer than Starfish.
I believe that if you search you can find comments on both.
Starfish is a better place for fish than Rodney's on King West. Haven't tried Rodney's by Bay yet. The mains at Starfish are under $35, except for the 2 lb lobsters ($58- which they will let you share with a friend, dividing the lobster onto 2 plates).
I think Starfish would be within a 15-20 minute walk from the ACC.
I was curious about the menu at Rodney's By Bay since I haven't been yet, and there is only one seared fish on the menu- seared halibut:
The original Rodney's on King West focuses on shellfish, smoked fish and chowders on their menu, and no grilled or seared fish are listed.
Another option for grilled fish closer to the ACC is the robata/grill bar at Nami, a Japanese restaurant on Adelaide, that might be closer to a 10-12 minute walk from the ACC. The fish used on the grill bar are market price (with 19 different types of fish/seafood listed on the menu), so you'd want to find out the price first before ordering. I've only ordered vegetables from the grill bar, so I don't have any experience with their cooked fish. They also have a salmon teriyaki set dinner available.
Nami's sushi is good, as are their salads.
I've also had nice grouper (a daily special) at Biff's on Front Street, which would be less than a 10 minute walk from the ACC. Biff's currently has seared salmon on their dinner menu for $22.
