A Vegetarian Restaurant for Graduation

My girlfriend's sister is vegetarian and for her graduation from nursing school, she would like to go to an all-vegetarian upscale restaurant to share her big accomplishment with the food she loves. Can anyone please recommend a great vegetarian restaurant for this special occasion? Thanks!

  1. Hi... Not much love on these boards for Inn of the Seventh Ray (in Topanga Canyon), but we've had good experiences there with the Sunday Brunch. When we were there a while back, the Sunday Brunch had a simultaneous vegetarian version as well as the 'full' version (vegetarian and nonveg both). Though I enjoyed the seafood offerrings that were included in the 'full' version of the brunch, I could've easily been happy with the vegetarian offerings, which were numerous. Massive platters of ripe and colorful heirloom tomatoes, roasted veggies, enticing cold salads, pastas, and much more, artfully laid out and appetizing. The new age vibe that wafts from some of the servers and the nearby in-house bookstore can be a bit much; but the outdoor restaurant's setting, amidst trees, babbling brook and sun-dappled flora, is quite special. They have a vegetarian menu for non-brunch items too, but the vegetarian brunch was what I remember most. good for a celebratory meal, if a bit (OK, alot ) mellow...

    1. There's always Rahel in little Ethiopia. . .not really "upscale" - but the food is incredible and it is definitely a fun and special place to celebrate! There's also Meals by Genet which is a little nicer imho, but they also have non-veggie options.

      1. Madeleine Bistro, an upscale vegan restaurant, in Tarzana gets very good reviews here.

imho, the food at madeline bistro is not 'upscale'--much is just chicken fried seitan. their salads are meh. they do serve on tablecloths, though
i'd go to real food daily or to a votre sante for much better vegetarian food.

        2. I'll toss in Fatty's in Eagle Rock - as a happy omnivore, I've been thrilled with my many meals there.
