Jet-Lagged in Napa!

aburkavage May 6, 2009 08:21 AM

My family and I will be arriving on the left coast Saturday, May 16th and are looking for a restaurant to tickle our fancies as we adjust to the new time zone through one bloodshot eye! We're staying at the Silverado resort just outside of Napa and are looking for a relatively quick and tasty bite to get the trip started.

As it is, we have reservations at JoLe, French Laundry, and Bottega - we're considering Greystone at the CIA for that evening, but I think the preference would be for something a little more casual and closer to our temporary home in Napa. Any thoughts about Cuvee, Pearl, or Bistro Jeanty?

Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I'll also add Ubuntu to the possible list or eateries.

My first thought was Ubuntu as well. It's got a very laid back atmosphere, and the food is very refreshing -- perfect for combating jet-lag!

Ubuntu didn't have anything available on Saturday night, but I did book it for later in the week. I ended up making a reservation at Greystone at the CIA - am I going to regret that decision?

From another thread about dining in Napa active right now: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/6178...

I've never eaten there, so I can't comment on the food, but just from a geographical standpoint, it wouldn't be among my top choices.

If you're staying in a condo at Silverado, I suggest loading up at Oxbow (recommended below) and eating at "home."

I would go to Taylor's Refresher in St. Helena and get yourself an Ahi Burger..that will set you right!

Wow - I'm not sure sure I can pass that up! It looks outstanding, but would it be better as lunch squeezed between golf and couple wineries?

You're talking to a chick who lives for golf, wine and ahi..any way I can get it!
          Have fun in Napa.

Taylor's Refresher also has a location in Napa at the Oxbow Market, open until 9 PM.
            A little closer to Silverado...
