Does anyone know where I can find Dragon Fruit around Dallas? I saw them only once at Fiesta, but that seems to have been a one-time deal. Any ideas?

They have it at Whole Foods Highland Park. I just got back from Singapore and ate it everyday I was there. So, so yummy and just really pretty on a fruit platter with melons and strawberries.

Im sure Central Market would have it too. If not you could ask them to special order it for you. Shouldnt be a big deal.

Strangely enough, I have never seen it at CM. IMO, Whole Foods tends to bring in more exotic fruits.

I've never seen it at CM, either. Thanks for the tip on HPWF.

Have you tried Super H-Mart? Their produce section is about the size of an entire Albertson's.

Ohhh. Super H-mart. I'm going there this weekend. Need to make sure I eat before I buy out the place.

NO! Eat there, they have the most delightful food court. Afterwards shop...

Guess I'm kinda slow, but what/where is Super H-Mart?

Super H Mart is a massive Korean grocery. They sell a very wide variety of produce. It's in Carrollton.

Thanks for the tip about H-Mart. That place is great. What a seafood selection! But alas, still no dragon fruit.

I've gotten dragon fruit before at all of the asian supermarkets in the Dallas area.

        1. Asia World Market - Legacy Rd. just west of 75
        2. Mei Hua Supermarket - Northeast corner of Coit Rd. and W Park Blvd.
        3. Tian Tian 88 Supermarket - Greenville Rd. north of Beltline Rd.

Asia World is the largest of the three. I'm surprised you didn't find it at Super H Mart...their produce section is awesome! I've also seen them at some of the Mexican supermarkets.

Well, I tried all 3 asian markets you suggested and found Dragon fruit at none of them. Is there a Dragon fruit season that I'm unaware of?

Did some googling out of curiousity, because I've never seen or tasted Dragonfruit. This page talks about it's season and has some mighty tasty looking photos.

OMG funny. The pictures of baby Jason with Dragon Fruit at 6 mos and then again at 18 months... then for good measure Dragon Fruit pictured with a beer tap. I haven't stopped laughing for 20 minutes.

I work at Central Market, and we currently have dragonfruit in stock. We only carry it ceretain times of the year, and there isn't a big market for it. We try our best to get it whenever the crop is good enough!

Tom Spicer had a few at fm1410 on Fitzhugh. Don't know if he was selling them or just munching on them, though.

Saw it at H-Mart last week. (today is 9/30/09)
They are really pretty to look at...so unusual...but never 'got' the flavor. <shrug>
