Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in New Orleans

Upcoming 2-day business visit

I'm arriving on Tuesday evening (on time for dinner) and departing Thursday afternoon (after lunch). Staying at Renaissance Pere Marquette and attending a conference at Lowes. This is probably my 6th visit in as many years, so I have certainly sampled some of the dining highlights, but want to keep trying places I haven't yet been. My thoughts were as follows:

Breakfasts: Lil Dizzy's and Luke (both seem to be on the way from Pere to Lowes)

Lunches: Bon Ton and MiLa (Bon Ton being an easy walk from Lowes, and MiLa being in my hotel, so I can lunch there before heading back to the airport)

Dinners: Here is where I need a bit of advice. On my list are Pascale's Manale and Irene's. Others I'm considering are Meaux Bar and Rio Mar. I thought about Cochon but the menu just doesn't excite me. I will be dining alone. If Pascale's stays on the list, I would likely get there by streetcar, so any thoughts on safety would be helpful. Any advice on the dinner selections (or anything else) would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Of those dinner choices, I'd say Rio Mar and Irene's.
