Seeking ethnic dining on the North Shore

I'm looking for a restaurant between Malden and Newburyport that serves something other than a burger :) Any suggestions? We were thinking Thai but am open to anything really.

  1. Not exactly the North Shore, but if you are taking Route 93 to 495, Mango II in Tewksbury has some of the best Thai food I've eaten in the Boston area.

    1. Ithaki in Ipswich might fit the bill: Greek and Mediterranean.

This was my Mom's suggestion too. A little pricey though. What would you suggest on the menu?

i'll chime in here and say anything lamb. the octopus app and if they have them, the grilled whole sardines are wicked good. they also have a flair for whole fish and the last two times we ordered scallops we were very pleased.

I've not been, but other reviews I've read sound very good. (But I really really REALLY hate their website tho! LOL) Having said that, I'm a sucker for lamb, so I'd probably go that way or something "spring like".

That is so funny you say that about their website. I was annoyed the second I loaded the page. Also, the menu doesn't look that impressive even though I've heard nothing but great things about the food.

I think this may be our choice since my Mom threw out the suggestion first. It is Mother's Day after all.

        2. Do you mean to include the endpoints? Malden itself has plenty of ethnic options: FuLoon, Pho 99, All Season's Table, and Habesha are the top choices IMO....

I was hoping to be closer to my end point, which is Newburyport but Malden is an option.

I second either Fuloon or Habesha.

YES! Fuloon! i 4get that's in the North Shore.

Habesha doesn't have the atmosphere of Addis Red Sea in the South End, but the food is tremendous. Let us know what you get when you go there!

What's the atmosphere like there? This sounds promising.

the place itself is in Da 'Hood. but the inside is very clean and pretty nice given the location. be advised they're cash only and serve no alcohol.

                2. You can't go wrong with Sushi Island in Wakefield Center for excellent Japanese and I am also a big fan of Tepthida Khmer on Chelmsford St. in Lowell for wonderful Cambodian food. Try the Drunken Noodles and Loc Lac with beef.

                    another good recco.
                    try the Akima(o).

A big second for Sushi Island if you have any inkling for sushi. Go, sit at the sushi bar, and order $50 of omakase a person and let the chef serve you one delicious bite of heaven after another. Very accesible via 93/95 as well.
