Infant at Yonge & Eglinton?
I need somewhere I can have an early dinner on Saturday night (say, 5:30ish) in the Yonge and Eglinton area / Mt. Pleasant & Eglinton area that is NOT Sushi or Italian... with a 4.5 month old... and my Mom... who is ageless :)
Thoughts?

Okay, I have to say that title conjures up some weird images, like a toddler on the loose.
I think Tabule would be a great option, if you don't mind heading down towards Davisville. Nixing Italian knocks out a lot of the more usual suspects in the 'hood.

I still think Tabule is a great option for a multi-generational outing. There are a couple of Indian restaurants (Amaya on Bayview and the place whose name escapes me now on Yonge closer to Davisville). Or for pan-Asian that's decent (not stellar - delicious drunken crab and garlic shrimp are your best bets), there's Lemongrass on Bayview south of Eglinton - with dessert at Hollywood Gelato next door.

re: peppermint pate
The Indian place on Yonge is Jaipur Grille. It's great.
I also agree that Tabule is a good choice.
It's not necessarily a classic Mother's Day choice (and it's a bit farther north than the area you requested) but the Abbot pub on Yonge north of Lawrence has really good upscale pub food and there are always lots of kids around.
