Fresno Límon's Peruvian Restaurant Going Strong
We were pleased to see this fine restaurant full of happy dinners and few empty seats. Lately, it seems as if Tommy's, Elbowroom, Cheesecake Factory, etc. have not had the crowds of customers waiting to be seated. We have been crossing our fingers and spreading the word about Fresno's only Peruvian restaurant, other people must
be doing the same because Límon was packed.
Our son, visiting from college, was craving some Peruvian food so that was our excuse to head to Límon. Wow, am I glad we did, another mouthwatering meal so full of flavor and cooked to perfection. We started off with two appetizers, the ribs and the antichucos. Simply delicious.
All the entree were off the hook yummy, but the lomo saltado seemed to be the best of the best, the rib eye coming in a close second. Our 13 year old sticks with his favorite, the pollo latino with the Peruvian mac & cheese. It's made with truffle oil, too bad it does not come in an "easy mac microwave version" for home, i'd never
have to cook again.
OMG the desserts send you straight to heaven, peach bread pudding (we ordered two just to be safe), flourless chocolate lava cake with homemade ice cream, and compliments of the house, passionfruit mousse. Shame on us but we scraped every last calorie off the plates.
Add two CichaTinis, Peruvian beer, and Chicha Morada and we were completely stuffed. Límon is a wonderful place to enjoy spending time with friends and family while
savoring a taste of Peruvian cuisine.

Just a brief "Amen!" to this killer resto! The SW and I ate there last night. We split the lomo saltado and got the empanda Don Walter, the Jalea, and the Ceviche del Mar as apps. Every single dish gets an A, all but the empanadas get an A+.
The empanadas were smallish and fried to a crispy golden brown. The filling of ground beef, olives, what I believe are raisins, and spices was cooked and seasoned perfectly.
The jalea was a crispy light golden brown batter dried seafood mixto: Shrimp, calamari, whitefish. Hot, delicious, wonderful in my mouth.
I'm embarassed to admit this, but I'd never had ceviche before last night. Wow! What a taste revelation! Somewhat citrusy but satisying, never harsh or bland. I wanted another pint of this! (The downside is I'm now spoiled for lesser ceviches. O well.)
What can I say about the lomo altado that's not been said by others? An absolutely A+ dish!
A special mention for the rice served with the lomo saltado. Jessica confirmed the chef adds only salt, but I've never tasted long grain rice as delicious, and free of that starchy cooked rice aftertaste. I imagine the chef washes the rice and I could swear I tasted butter in there somehere, but I'll confirm with him next time we're there.
The service was great if a bit slow, given there were only about a dozen diners. There were only two cooks working and one cook took time off after we arrived to interview a propsective employee nearby. Our waitress was Jessica who was pleasant, friendly, and knowledgable about the food.
The only sour note was when we got the tab: Our sodas were not given free refills as is customary but were charged @ $2.75 ea. There's no mention of this on the menu nor did Jessica tell us. Ordinarily it's not a significant issue, except the sodas are served in highball glasses filled with ice, so the amount of soda you get is actually quite small.
That said, we plan on returning to this wonderful place.
