Gold Burger, Newington CT

Holler!
I can't believe my less chow-ish SO knew about this place before I did. Then again, she's the burger maven in our house so--I'll throw her a bone this time.
We were out and about yesterday and sort of near Newington Center and we wanted to just look for Gold Burger to scope it out for a future visit. Well, they were open (lucky us) on this dreary Sunday afternoon so we ducked in there and had a gooood lunch.
My SO ordered the signature "Gold Burger" which was huge for her. Two patties w/ lettuce, tomatos, onion, pickles, potato chips and "gold sauce" (1000 island-ish). She thought the burger patties were cooked perfectly (too pink for me) and that the burger was very good but too big.
I ordered the Coney Dog with an all beef dog. Good Chili! I haven't tasted anything quite like it in the area as it's different from: Saints, Capital Lunch, Dawg House and every other place that has a chili dog. I really liked that chili. My only issues with my dog were that in New England I feel every place should have a NE style bun. I can live without it but it would be nice. Also there were way too many onions on this dog--and the way they were cut made it difficult to eat. I'd have preferred diced onions but these were slices of rings--all of which pulled off the dog when I bit them.

We also ordered the half and half of Fries and Onion rings. I found them both to be a bit oversalted (looked like Kosher salt on them).

A couple of other mentions:
Good service-I like the enthusiasm of the staff and that your food comes in a no-frills paper bag, a-la 5 Guys.
No Beer--I can live with this but there are other burger joints in the vicinity that do serve beer and I think this place might suffer slightly because of that.
They don't have a veggie burger offering but they do have a chicken one (not sure what it is exactly, to be honest).

That's about it. I dug this place and will definitely be back.
Check them out! I wish them luck as they say Burgers are fairly recession proof and if this works out better than the bagel/deli joint that preceeded it, they should do well.

Hi. Good question and I'm sorry I omitted that info.
Let's see, we had the Gold Burger, a Coney Dog, a half/half fries/o-rings and two sodas and it was about $16. So I'd say it's a bit more than 5 Guys---definitely reasonable. Plus the fact that they don't have booze keeps it cheaper (at least when I'm buying).
