outdoor dinner in durham?

finland May 2, 2009 12:48 PM

hi everyone,

i'm a durhamite who is looking to take her visiting mother to a nice outdoor dinner in durham. federal and alivia's are ok, but they are still mainly bars. we don't like brightleaf and parker and otis is more of a lunch spot. we also don't like to sit and stare at a parking lot (a la saladelia). so any thoughts?

Both Vin Rouge and Blu Seafood have nice outdoor seating.

      Exactly the two I'd recommend.

        thanks for the suggestions!

unfortunately i failed to mention that i was a vegetarian so vin rouge and blue seafood might be something of a stretch (i've actually never been to either) but i'll check out the menus!

on saturday we actually ended up at blue corn (i keep hoping blue corn will live up to my expectations and it never does) but to make up for it we had a glorious sunday brunch at rue cler - outside! almost felt like we were in vienna for an hour ;)

Ah, def. makes a difference. I eat very little red meat, and even with the bigger options that gives me, Vin Rouge can be tough. Still and all, I really like the place a lot. If you're willing to travel you might want to try Panzanella in Carrboro. They have a nice outdoor patio and the food is good (and there are def. veg. options).
