Fancy Garnishes/Twists for Martinis?

I'm getting a little sick of my standard lemon twist, and was looking for some ideas for other things to garnish martinis with. I'd like to try some sort of homemade pickled vegetable (onion? radish?) or something seasonal (ramps?)

Any ideas? Also, if I decide to go the olive route, which olives would be a step up from the usual jarred green ones?

  1. Lemongrass? It wouldn't be too big a departure in flavor profile.

    1. This is probably very un-kosher, but I always use an garlic stuffed olive along with a lemon twist (or peel or whatever I scrape off). Olives were an acquired taste for me and the garlic was incentive for me to eat it when the drink was done.

      1. Sun dried tomato.

        1. I recently saw a jar of pickled leeks in a Vietnamese grocery. Afterwards, I realized that they had real potential as a cocktail garnish.

          1. My girlfriend used a section of preserved meyer lemon -- I think it looked pretty nice. Didn't try it, so I can't speak to how it tasted.
