Diner on the UES

Can anyone recommend a good diner on the Upper East Side. I want to meet some friends for lunch and they're staying near New York Presbyterian. Thanks in advance!

Gracie Mews at 81st and 1st is the best!

Does Gracie Mews have anything to do with the Gracie Diner on 88th at 1st? That's a good one too.

I love the Viand on 86th at 2nd but it's not cheap and it's not exactly next to NYPres.

Not exactly a diner, but an outstanding coffee shop--Nectar, on Madison at 82nd Street. Amazing what they can do in a tiny kitchen. Everything's made fresh, on premises, and they'll accommodate any requests. We consider it our kitchen away from home for an unpretentious but well prepared meal.

Yes, I'm a fan of Nectar, and Viand as well. A bit expensive, but solid food. I also like the Candy Shop, though it's awfully expensive. I was pleasantly surprised though that my father and stepmother went there for lemonade, and, while it was about five dollars per lemonade, they actually thought it was worth it, unlike many places in Manhattan. I've had a great BLT there.

It's not right nearby, but the Candy Shop at 83rd and Lex is very good.

The Green Kitchen on 77th 1st avenue is very good.

Green Kitchen IS good. 3 Star on 76th and 1st is good, but more in a "greasy diner" kinda way.
