Anyone try Five Buys Burger and Fries??

  • 5

I went this past weekend to Five Guys in Carson and thought the burger was excellent. You can add as many toppings as you like for free and the burger tasted fresh. I am not a food expert or anything like that but I rate it above In and Out and Fatburger. Has anyone else tried this place?

  1. Five Guys is a pretty popular on the east coast and I used to go there all the time. Back there they were always known to have one of the best burgers in town. I'm glad to know that they can keep the quality throughout the other stores in the chains.

There already is a thread running on this board w/43 entries.

I do Franchise compliance inspections for this chain and results vary w/the individual franchise owner, overall very good, if you are willing to eat WELL DONE beef. I ordrer it and give it to my kid or dog. The Fries are great. Hot dogs very good.
Overall, a bit expensive, when a regular burger, small friesz and small drink costs $10

      1. I'm not usually a fan of fast food or chains, but DH and I love Five Guys.

A lot of people, like the poster above, complain about only being able to get burgers well done, but I just don't get it. The food is comparable (not taste-wise, but in the same category) to McDonald's or BK or Wendy's and you wouldn't order a burger to your doneness preference there, would you? So why all the fuss about FG not cooking o preference?

I don't have to pay $4.89 for a burger at McD, BK, or Wendy's and wait 7 minutes for it to be cooked to my order. 5 Guys, cooks to order using fresh NOT frozen beef. If insisting on serving well done only, why does the grill man have to slice into each burger? Because he doesn';t know how to tell if a thin burger is cooked!

It doesn't cost $10 at McD, BK or wendys for a burger, small fries and small coke. I can order a burger at any luncheonette cooked the way I want it and probably pay about $3.75 for the burger.

BTW- at BK I order the burger off the grill, I never will accept one thathas been sitting in the holding drawer and then microwaved. The BK wopper off the grill is often med-well NOT well like 5 guys.

If I wasn't paid to gop to 5 Guys for burgers, I wouldn't. I eat the fries and soda and the dog gets the burger.

        2. I think they are certainly a cut above most fast food burgers. Tasty, put whatever toppings on it that you want and are made to order. They do not use preformed patties. There french fries are suppose to be especially good but I don't really care for them. The portions are of the fries are massive. One small protion can easily feed three.
