Looking for a shaved ice place around Sylmar or the valley.

I was at a soccer game this weekend and there was a guy with a cart selling the stuff and I LOVED it. I think it's a great alternative to all the yogurt that's out there now, but I've never seen a place that sells it out of a store. Anybody got any ideas?

  1. Actually the best shave ice can be found in Simi Valley at Tutu's. If I lived up there, I'd be there once a week.

I used to agree with you, but the last 2 times I went I thought things had really gone downhill (the ice cream tasted old) Maybe they have new management. I know of another place, but it is out in Westlake or Thousand Oaks - but I haven't tried it yet. My friend (who lived in Hawaii) said it was VERY good but they didn't have beans like they do there, I don't know the name of it though.

It's called Shave It. Try it, it's very good and if you have kids it's a great place for them too!

Tutu's did go through new ownership. That's really disappointing to hear. The first owner did a bangup job They had dole whip and Lapperts ice cream to go with their shave ice. I hope to get back up there again to see how things are.

Let me know if you do and it's good. Maybe they've gotten on their feet and it's better now!

      2. I enjoyed my one trip to Nola Ice on 13569 Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks (it's near Woodman).

        List of flavors here:

        1. Have to agree with stockholm cindy. Noal Ice is great. Really unusual flavors. I tried the Mojito, Praline and the Mardi Gras King Cake. Mardi Gras King Cake! It really tasted like cake. Loved the mini cheesecake bites too.
