Romantic place - dinner and dancing?

Are there no places in LA that have this?

I'm looking for a nice place for my husband and I. Good food, romantic environment (not a loud, boisterous place), with some nice live music for dancing? We live in the Encino/Sherman Oaks area but I don't mind driving out for the right place.

Any suggestions?

Did you ever find a good place for dinner and dancing? My husband and I are hoping to find a similar place for our first year wedding anniversary. The Sky Room is a bit far from us, so we were hoping to find other options. Any advice would be appreciated!

I have not been in years but you might want to check out Cicada in Downtown--as I recall, they had dancing and live music.

Not near the valley, and I can only say so-so on the food, but have you ever been to the Sky Room in Long Beach? Gorgeous view, beautiful old building (terrific architecture) and dancing! A dance floor and everything. Not rock n roll -- more old fashioned. (I felt like I was watching The Gay Divorcee.) We drove from the valley and I honestly cannot remember the food (which says something -- but at least I don't remember hating it!) I would return for the view, the historic 1930s-40s feeling and to watch the dancing. (Can't dance; don't ask me..!)
