Millbrae: Dumpling Dumpling?

Driving back home Sunday I spotted this place with a large grand opening banner.

According to yelp it's been open about a month and has the same owner as Shanghai Dumpling on Broadway. Hard to determine from the yelp reviews if it is good or not. I thought of stopping by, but with what I know about Chinese food, my opinion would be about as useful as the yelp reviews.

It is near Hong Kong Flower Garden. Anyone tried it?

According to a friend, DD is gone and in its place is a HK cafe called Cafe Orchid.

Also there seems to be a new ramen shop coming soon at 219 El Camino called Oishi Ramen.

Wow! That was fast. I guess I made it under the wire. The thing the struck me was that for a place called Dumpling Dumpling I would have expected a few more varieties of dumplings.

Thanks. I panicked when the first page was in Chinese.

I wonder if the weekend Chinese donuts are good. Hmmm .. sweet potato or pumpkin rice. I'd give that a try. What's with the Malaysian items such as water grass over rice

Note that those are typically savory and not sweet.

The pumkin stuff or the Malaysian stuff?

Your original text stopped at Chinese donut. That would be #16, and shown in the upper right corner here.

Many posts all over the site on Hainan chicken aka chicken-rice aka Hainanese chicken.

rw- I'd actually prefer your opinion, because I really just want to know how it tastes. Stop in next time!

It's a 1/4 block north of Hong Kong Flower, next to the Union 76 gas station. If I want great dumplings, I just go to Hong Kong Flower!

Um, it seemed like they are in two different categories. It is the equivalent of saying If I want a good burger I'll go to Epic Roasthaus. However, perhaps I misread the place from driving by. So you tried it, or just rejected it because HKF is a favorite.
